Manchester Seniors Sailing Club (MSSC) is based at Sale Water Park which is a 152-acre area of countryside and parkland including a 52-acre artificial lake in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester. Opened in 1979 and owned by Trafford Council the water park lies in an area of the green belt running through the Mersey river valley between Sale and Stretford, located between the river and the M60 motorway. Sale Water Park provides important recreational facilities and wildlife reserves, as well as forming part of the flood defences for the surrounding area of Trafford.
Manchester Seniors Sailing Club (MSSC) formally known as Senior Citizens Sailing Club (SCSC) was established in 1989. The club is proactive in helping senior members of the community to keep sailing. We sail on Mondays & Thursdays 09-30 to 14-30. These times mean that we are predominately an older age group of mainly retired people, both men and women. The club maintains a substantial fleet of craft to cater for the differing levels of sailing ability so new members can try out different dinghies without the need to own one.
In addition to sailing, the club has a strong social aspect, undertaking group activities, including sailing holidays in the Lake District and social evenings. When conditions are unsuitable for sailing we undertake regular walks around the local country park.
